In Barcelona, I found in my view, the 9th wonder of the world is the Sagrada Famila (holy family) temple, and church?
Architect Antoni Gaudi worked on this his whole career and it was started a hundred and 25 years ago and won’t be finished for another 10 years, I don’t think it will ever be completed, it is masterpiece in every way!! Gaudi was killed by a tram in Barcelona, they took him to a hospital for the poor, he was dressed in rags, and no one knew who he was! This site is not to be missed, but try to get tickets from your travel agent before you leave home, it’s a little more expensive, but you avoid very long lines. Barcelona is, a beautiful Spanish city, charming, and meets any European city by any standards!
I stayed in an apartment overlooking the city at the BK centre in the heart of the city. It’s a magnificent, 200 year old building, and as usual was given lovely welcome. One of my reasons for visiting was to meet up with 2 of my Grandkids, Megan and Ben on the Shaw side, it was great to see them happy and funny, they had just gotten off cruise ship with their parents before going to Athens.
The weekend before I spent at the BK centre in Leeds, I had been warned, with people saying Leeds was an ugly city etc., well I don’t agree, and the countryside is just plain gorgeous, rolling hills, green, and streams. Leeds university is very large with students from all over the world, not quite Cambridge, but good, plus a famous coffee shop and cafe called Betty’s, so I now have named tea cup and grocery bag! Thank you to David, Susan and Valerie, for a most enjoyable weekend, it was fun to catch up and tour around the area, plus the sun was shining!
As far as I know I am in Cambridge until I leave for Congo middle of September, with side trips to London etc.
P.S. Traveling within Europe on Ryan Air is very painless, you don’t have to check in with airline, if you have a boarding pass, and carry-on luggage, you can just go right to security, and as I have said before having British Passport is brilliant (no lineups).
Enjoy many pictures!!

Funny, when we first saw la Sagrada Familia in Barcelona about 15 yrs ago, they said then it would take another 10 yrs to complete. Interested in hearing about your Congo visit. You’re so brave.
Great to know your thoughts on RYan Air. Often comes up as an option and I’ve been leery. Back in Cambridge the week of 12 September but sounds as though we’ll be the proverbial two shups passing. Excited for your Congo adventure! Best,Brenda

Hi Betty Loved this report on Barcelona and the pictures! So glad you are enjoying your travels! > Looking forward to seeing you soon in London. I think we have already said that Sunday October 2nd is the best day and we would like to go to a service at Westminster Abbey and then will be free for the rest of the day. We will be staying at the Hilton, Double Tree, 30, John Islip Street, London Westminster could you phone me there 44 2076301000 the day before, on the Saturday of October 1st, to let me know what time we should meet? I think it will be easiest to meet at the Hilton, if that is O.K. with you. Look forward to knowing that this will be right for you, meantime love as always Prue
