Speaking Gigs and Perspective on Western Canada

My speaking gig started in San Francisco and I was fortunate enough to stay with a lovely couple, Jim and Deborah, in a gracious home, with a wonderful garden and a pool. Plus Jim owns 2 Vintage Motorcycles, both Harleys, and when you go for ride you wear Harley gear; shirts, hats etc. I gave 2 presentations for the public on my travels and life journey, both very well attended.‎ I also connected with my old friend Barbara, we had met in Katmandu, Nepal, in 1995, and she attended both of my talks, which was beyond the call of duty!

Next, Vancouver, to stay with the BK family in large, and lovely home, just outside of city, they waited on me in unbelievable ways, with 2 Indian sisters attending to my every want. While I was there, I met up with an old friend and we toured Gastown. I was shocked at the number of homeless and mentally ill people I saw all over the community, years ago I remember small pockets of this, but not nearly as much. Very sad for Canada!!! The government has stopped funding for Psychiatric Hospitals.

Next stop, Edmonton, again I was so well taken care of. I was driven all over, the food was great, but Edmonton is feeling the effects of the oil industry, lay-offs etc. I realized that Toronto seems like a boomtown compared to western Canada.

Next stop, Calgary, and again oil has made big difference. I went to Canmore for a hike in the mountains.

I met up with Valerie, my hostess. My last visit with Valerie was when her book was (again, old friend) launched many years before.

Now, I am in Montreal with old friends, I always feel at home here. Eric lives here; he is someone I have treasured as a friend for years. My talks have been on happiness, adversity, my nomadic journey, travels, my business and charitable life, and with my life journey being the thread! I have enjoyed every minute. My friend Julie is arriving from Penang, it will be great to see her! I have really enjoyed visiting the BK family across the country; you can see their commitment to one another and their community!

Next, I am off to Quebec City!
