Sad news: Doreen, my bookkeeper of 45 years, passed away. As she had been sick for a long time—it is probably a blessing. She had wanted to live as long as she could for her grandchildren, but the love of her life was her husband Ken who died a number of years ago. She can now join him.
It has been a busy time with my concierge business, and I must admit it is fun! It all reminds me of when I had my consultanting company. I was always keeping my clients out of trouble and doing creative projects.
The pictures you will see are all about two events I attended. One was a birthday party for Leo, who is five years old and the son of Eric who runs the hotel I stay at. It was a four-hour extravaganza, with clowns, food, a massive cake, etc.
There were about 60 adults and just as many kids. Everyone had such a great time. I observed (yet again) that the Mexican family is a beautiful thing. They are very deeply connected and respectful of one another. Over the four hours they were all just having REAL FUN… the kids, the adults, everyone there regardless of age. In all honesty, I don’t think we could pull this off in Canada. You had about 120 people for a five-year old’s birthday party without incident. Just amazing! I felt very honoured to be included as a guest (I was one of only two non-mexicans in attendance). Check out the b-day pictures below.
The other pictures are of me and my friend Ravi. We went on a little adventure to town called Mazamitla about an hour-and-a-half from Ajijic. At another 2,000 feet higher, it is supposed to be cooler with pine trees, etc .The highlight was a visit to the Lion Park, which was very well done. I must admit I was very surprised to see all kinds of animals there. The highlight was being able to feed and pet the baby lions. All-in-all, an excellent adventure! There are pictures below, but click here for a video.
Hope everyone is well and still enjoying life in this crazy world.

Now you can call your friend: “The Lion King!”
