NEARLY TWO MONTHS SINCE LAST BLOG

Hola all!

I am very busy here, and politics are becoming a bigger part of life. With not being allowed to accept transfers from the US and Canada, and other issues surfacing, Banks are challenged. I personally feel the Mexican President is doing a first class job against you-know-who (!), and it will all sort out with time … as (hopefully) common sense prevails.

I will travel to Edmonton later in August to spend time with old friend Judy (over 50 years) and Sister Shivani, who is a wonderful BK. Sister Shivani is arriving from India and touring across Canada with speaking engagements. It will also be wonderful to meet other BK friends who will be travelling with her. I will then travel to Cold Lake, Alberta to spend time with Linda and Frank from Newfoundland; they used to live next door to me. Cold Lake is one of the most beautiful places in the world.

My new Mexican friends are a wonderful addition to my life here. We meet for coffee and solve the problems of the world. They love life, family and their culture, Also, I have avoided learning Spanish except for maybe 10 words, but it is time, so I am searching for a very patient teacher.

The world is moving, shifting and changing very quickly, so hang on to the important people in your life—things will settle down.

I had also been given an excellent travel book, showing the difference between being a tourist and a traveller: The Art of Pilgrimage. It really shows the many emotions you go through when you are a true traveller, and it brought back many memories of my years of travel.

  1. You are an amazing person. It is fascinating to listen to your travel adventures. Thanks for making coffee time so much fun.

  2. Enjoy your travels, and the rest of your summer, Betty! I have had family visiting all summer and it has been fun. My nieces and nephews have children now and I had a blast getting to know the little ones. Let’s catch up in September when you return. Sending love and hugs, K.

  3. Betty, I was a traveller when I moved to Canada more that 50 years ago. Understand!
